Ramadan in UAE

I don't know much about Ramadan but what people are looking forward to this holy month of Islam is the working hour. Some lucky people have 6 hours, some have 7 hours, some still have the same schedule but they're given an overtime or two days off.

What is Ramadan? According to wikipedia, Ramadan is "the ninth month of the lunar Islamic calendar, which lasts 29 or 30 days according to the visual sightings of the crescent moon." During this month, Muslims abstain from food, drink and sexual activity during the daylight. This time is the time to be generous and to avoid bad habits. But what non-Muslim people should know about Ramadan are the dont's. You are not allowed to eat, drink, chew gum, yawn also avoid any entertainment activities such as singing and dancing in public and please also observe the dress code (no short shorts & revealing dresses). I know this is hard for non-Muslims but this is only for one month and once a year. We have different beliefs but all you have to remember is to respect each other.

Expect the temperature to rise up to 50C so don't forget to rehydrate yourself.

Ramadan Kareem!
